The backbone of the regiment, Fusiliers form the rank and file of the infantry battalion. Dressed in the standard blue uniform of the French line infantry and equipped with musket and kit, they represent the core fighting strength of the Grande Armée.
We welcome both men and women to take on this role, provided they can portray the appearance of a Napoleonic soldier as accurately as possible.
“Good infantry is without doubt the sinews of an army…” – Napoleon Bonaparte

Tambour
Drummers played a vital role in the Napoleonic army, controlling the rhythm of military life through regulated drum calls that governed everything from daily routine to battlefield manoeuvres.
As a Tambour, you will learn traditional drum calls used throughout the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, including the famous “La Charge” used to signal the advance in battle. This role requires commitment and practice, but full training and support are provided for those willing to take it on.
“The drums beat a charge loud enough to break their drumheads…” – Jean-Roch Coignet

Civilian
The French army marched all over Europe and interacted with the lives of many civilians while on garrison and campaign. A civilian role grants you a huge variety of possible roles, limited only by history and your own imagination.
A civilian role offers a unique way to experience life in the Napoleonic Wars beyond the battlefield. We are open to well-researched impressions, and welcome good living history displays.

Vivandières
Camp followers were an essential part of the Napoleonic army’s support structure, including Vivandières (canteen keepers) and Blanchisseuses (washerwomen). These roles provided vital services such as selling supplies, maintaining clothing, and supporting daily camp life.
We provide all the guidance and research needed to help portray these historical roles accurately, offering a unique way to experience life on campaign beyond the battlefield.
